Clear expectations before you start.

TakoTax does not submit returns to the IRS or state agencies today. It helps you prepare, review, and download forms for separate filing. Built-in e-file is coming later and is not available until the required approvals, identifiers, and testing are complete.

Projects are saved in local browser storage. TakoTax does not provide cloud sync, account recovery, server-side backup, or project file export/import yet. Clearing browser storage permanently deletes the project.

Federal, state, input document, and output form support vary. Check coverage before relying on TakoTax for a specific return.

TakoTax is software. It cannot decide whether a tax position applies to you, classify ambiguous income, or respond to tax notices.

If you find a bug, confusing result, or documentation gap, report it with enough detail to reproduce the issue. Do not send sensitive tax documents or Social Security numbers by email.

TakoTax can prepare Form 1040-X for amendments of returns originally prepared in TakoTax for the current supported tax year. It does not file the amendment for you, does not compute interest or penalties on amended balances, and does not currently support amending returns originally prepared elsewhere.
