Generating and downloading forms
How form generation works
When you reach the workspace, TakoTax assembles supported tax forms locally using your reviewed input data and the results of the tax calculations performed by the Rust engine in your browser. The output is rendered into PDF bytes on your device, entirely client-side.
What forms TakoTax generates
TakoTax generates supported federal and state forms based on the data you have entered. See the supported forms matrix for the current list of output forms. Forms can also reach intermediate readiness states (computed, included, blocked, exportable) which the workspace surfaces explicitly so you can tell which forms are truly ready and which are still partial.
Reviewing the generated output
Before relying on any generated form, review it carefully. Compare the values on the generated form against:
- Your input documents (W-2, 1099s, etc.)
- Official IRS or state form instructions for the tax year
- Any amounts you entered manually
If any value is wrong, go back to the input stage, correct it, and recompute.
Downloading PDF forms
Download your supported forms only after you have reviewed the return.
The app prepares PDF forms in your browser and lets you save the supported output to your device. Keep a copy with your tax records and review it before using it for filing.
If a form is blocked or marked incomplete, return to the input and review screens, correct the issue, and recompute before downloading.
Filing your forms
TakoTax does not submit your return to the IRS or state agencies today. After you download forms, you are still responsible for filing them. Options may include:
- Mailing the printed forms to the IRS and your state agency
- Using another filing method that accepts prepared forms
- Consulting a tax professional who can review and file on your behalf
Built-in e-file through TakoTax is not available yet. See the pricing page for details.
